My Story

Hello, I’m Astrid, the proud owner of Astrid’s Buttah Shop, a business founded by a woman, a minority, and someone living with a disability. I started my company in 2020 to address my own challenges with dry, sensitive skin and my son’s eczema. Our first product, “Melanin Magic” was created, a whipped cocoa butter designed to soothe dry and irritated skin. The positive results I and my loved ones experienced inspired me to create natural skincare products aimed at helping others facing similar issues. Since then, we have broadened our product line to include a variety of items that nourish and moisturize the body.

I aspire to go beyond just natural skincare products, aiming to build a brand that highlights the significance of each individual's skincare journey. Additionally, I seek to raise awareness and provide education about epilepsy. Living with Grand Mal Seizures, 1 of the 30 different types of epilepsy, since I was 16, I have come to understand the importance of knowing one's rights as a person with epilepsy, especially after experiencing disability discrimination in various workplaces. This realization drives my dedication to merge my skincare knowledge with epilepsy advocacy.

My mission is to inspire both those with and without epilepsy to celebrate their abilities and shift the focus away from limitations. Let’s turn skincare into a celebration of what you can achieve!

This is my story, my vision, and my motivation.
